Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv”: information on temporary blackout 

On October 13, at 4:25 PM the failure in electricity supply, caused by the damage to the power supply circuit outside the enterprise, took place at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv”. It resulted in disconnecting the airport terminal from electricity supply for more than an hour. All the necessary measures were taken to resolve the problem, and at 5:35 PM the electricity supply was restored. However, the situation inevitably led to the departure delay of the flight LO764.

The Administration of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” apologizes for the unpleasant situation that occured last evening. We express our deepest respect for the passengers and strive to do our best in order to make it pleasant to use our services. The situation that happened yesterday is an exception, and we are very much vexed that it affected the handling of the flight LO764, operated by a highly respected airline "LOT-Polish Airlines”, whom we have been fruitfully cooperating with for so many years.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” meets Italian low-cost airline Meridiana Fly

On December 16, 2014 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” held the inauguration flight Naples - Lviv - Naples, operated by the second largest Italian airline Meridiana Fly.

Boeing 737-700, belonging to Meridiana Fly, with total passenger capacity of 148 seats landed at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” at 2.47 p.m. (local time). There were 141 passengers and crew members of the aircraft on board. The aircraft departed to Naples with 52 passengers on board.

A red carpet was rolled out to welcome the arrival of the first passengers. The crew members received flowers from Oleksiy Kuznyetsov, temporarily acting General Director at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv”, and Vyacheslav Cheglatonyev, Chief Executive Officer at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv”.

Oleksiy Kuznyetsov said: " It gives me pleasure to welcome Meridiana Fly at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” and I want to wish good luck, achievement of goals, successful take-offs and soft landings, and, most importantly, peaceful heaven!"

Vyacheslav Cheglatonyev pointed out: "We are pleased to welcome a new airline and a new regular flight from/to Naples, which became the third Italian destination for Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv”. We express our confidence in the commercial success of the flight and,on our behalf,will make every effort to achieve it."

The captain of the Meridiana Fly aircraft said: "I was pleasantly impressed with the warm hospitality we received at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv”. In addition, it is worth noting the developed infrastructure and a high level of service at the airport."

Mykhailo, the passenger of the flight, shared his impressions too: "It's nice that my hometown is connected with Naples by means of the direct flight as it is very convenient and saves time and money. I also want to mention the excellent service on board and affordable price."

According to the schedule, the flights Naples - Lviv - Naples will be operated on Tuesdays. The aircraft departs from Lviv at 15:50 and arrives to Naples at 18.05. Time of departure from Naples is 12:50, arrival to Lviv- 15.05 (local time).

Currently, the airport operates flights from Lviv to such Italian destinations as: Milan, Venice and Naples.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” greets 100,000th passenger of one of the “Wizz Air Ukraine” flights

On November 26, 2014 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” and Wizz Air Ukraine greeted the 100,000th passenger of the Wizz Air Ukraine route from Lviv to Milan Bergamo. The winner became Mykhailo Korylkevych from Dubno, Rivne region. He travelled to Milan with his family for an excursion.

Apart from greetings from the representatives of the airport and passengers’ applauses, the 100,000th passenger got a voucher from “Wizz Air Ukraine” for the free flight to any Wizz Air Ukraine destination from Lviv.

 “Today is a next bright page in the history of the fruitful collaboration between Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” and Wizz Air Ukraine – we congratulate the 100,000th passenger of the flight “Lviv - Milan Bergamo”. Less than two years was necessary to achieve such a considerable rate, being the evidence of the popularity of the destination and the competitiveness of the airline’s offer price. Soon (on December 23, 2014) we will greet the first Wizz Air Ukraine passengers of the destination “Lviv-Naples” – pointed out Vyacheslav Cheglatonyev, executive director of  Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv".

Wizz Air Ukraine started regular flights from Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” in 2008. The flight “Lviv – Milan Bergamo” was launched in 2012.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" participated in the round table "Low- cost airlines in Ukraine. How to create the conditions for cheap flights "

"Low-cost airlines in Ukraine. How to create the conditions for cheap flights? " is the topic of the round table discussion held on October 9 in Kyiv with the participation of Viacheslav Chehlatoniev, executive director of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv".

Viacheslav Chehlatoniev, executive director of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" shared the plan about the development of Western air gates:

"Unfortunately, the current political and economic situation is not conductive to the development and expansion of budget airlines in Ukraine and leads to the postponement of their programs. However, Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" constantly works to call low-cost airlines for cooperation. In December 2014 we are opening a new flight of Italian airline "Meridiana Fly", and in spring we plan to open a new flight «Wizz air» from Lviv. We also wait for the emergence of  low-cost flight "AtlasJet",  as there are all the prerequisites for its functioning at the airport in Lviv."

Attention was also paid to the issue of "open sky". Viacheslav Chehlatoniev, executive director of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" said :"I want to emphasize that we are active supporters of signing "The Treaty on Open Skies" and we consider liberalization of  air space for Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" to be appropriate. This is one of the factors that will allow to engage in cooperation more airlines, including low-cost ones, give opportunity to expand network of flights and make prices more accessible owing to increased competition".

Apart from it, V.Chehlatoniev asked Serhiy Korshuk, director of the Department of Air Transportation and Airports of State Aviation Administration of Ukraine, to review current airport taxes. According to V.Chehlatoniev, current rates do not meet modern airport infrastructure, as they were established long before the reconstruction of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv".

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" organized off-site meeting of the committes of the Lviv Chamber of Commerce and Industry

On October 8, 2014 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" held a joint meeting of the Committee on Foreign Economic Relations and the Committee on Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant business of the Lviv Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The opening speech was delivered by Andriy Levkovych, first vice president of the Lviv Chamber of Commerce and Industry , who thanked Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" for the opportunity to hold this event in the conference room of the Terminal.

Viacheslav Chehlatoniev, Candidate of  Economic Science, the executive director of  Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv", pointed out: " The company constantly develops, improving indicators of financial and economic activity. Owing to the coordinated and efficient work of our company we were able to implement a number of commercial projects within a short time. In aviation commerce the flight "Lviv- Zhuliany" was recommenced and a new flight "Lviv - Dnipropetrovsk" was launched. In non-aviation commerce the company launched the automatic parking in the territory of the airport that allows to obtain additional income. Besides, a modern left-luggage office and a new modern conference room were opened. It is planed to open a new comfortable business-room in the zones of domestic and international flights this year. In addition, we are proud that Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" is one of the largest employers in Western Ukraine as it provides with work 870 people who receive salaries and bonuses in time".

Andriy Biber, Urga airlines director of route network development in support of cooperation with Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" announced the intention to launch another flight "Lviv-Kyiv" at a more convenient time. The price of a return ticket will start at 1200 UAH.

All the participants of the meeting agreed that the use of a modern way to book online is safe and comfortable. Olha Tarasenko, the director of the Lviv branch of LLP "Pilot", provided prospective clients with the following piece of advice: "In order to protect yourself from fraud it is necessary to choose approved companies that have their own capital".

In general, people who participated in the meeting were the representatives of Ukrainian business, managers and people interested in collaboration with Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv".

All the participants of the meeting had the opportunity to visit the airport building free zones and observe the work of the airport from the inside. 

Launching of New Flight Lviv-Tel Aviv from May 1, 2014

From May 1, 2014 "Wizz Air Ukraine" launches regular flights from Lviv to Tel Aviv on a new Airbus A320 aircraft three times a week (on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays). According to the Carrier, the ticket prices start from 419 UAH (one way, including all taxes and fees).

Thus, with the new base of the Wizz Air Ukraine in Lviv, which opens on April 30, 2014, one aircraft Airbus A320 will perform flights for 9 routes to 5 countries (Italy, Germany, Spain, Georgia and Israel).

From now passengers of the international flights at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" have the opportunity to visit the new café Chao Fourchette.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" arranged educational excursion for children 

For the first time Lviv Danylo Halytskyi International Airport arranged an excursion for children of amusement center “Veselka” (“Rainbow”). During the two-hour excursion, on November 15, children of school and preschool age were told about the arrangement of the airport service, check-in procedure, peculiarities of aviation security control, customs and passport control also they got acquainted with the history of Lviv airport. Children saw the flight landing, baggage disembarkation procedures and passengers boarding. As an expression of thanks children draw pictures on aviation topic and presented them to the Airport.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" summed up the results
of 10 months of 2013 

According to the results of 10 months of 2013, the passenger flow at the Airport equaled 609,6 thousand passengers, it is 117,8 thousand or 24% more than the same period last year. The number of passengers on international flights increased by 32% (or by 121.6 thousand passengers) up to 504.9 thousand, and on domestic flights – decreased by 4 % (or by 3.8 thousand passengers) up to 107.4 thousand passengers. During the period of January – October 2013 the Airport handled 8 193 flights: among them 5 856 were international, and 2 337 were within Ukraine.


The passenger flow of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" in October 2013 increased by 13% (or by 6.3 thousand passengers) up to 54.8 thousand in comparison with the same period last year: 41.7 thousand of them used international flights (+ 15%), and 13,1 thousand used domestic flights (+6% to the results of October 2012). Altogether in October, 799 takeoff and landing operations were performed: 520 international flights, and 279 domestic.
