During January 2017 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” handled 58,5 thousand passengers that is 55,2% more than during January 2016 (37,7 thousand passengers). The passenger traffic on domestic flights amounted to 12,3 thousand passengers (21%) and on international – 46,2 thousand passengers (79%).

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv”: 2016 operating results

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” handled 738 thousand passengers in 2016 that is 29,4% more than during 2015 (570,5 thousand passengers). The passenger traffic on domestic flights amounted to 155,2 thousand passengers (21%), and on international – 582,8 thousand passengers (79%).

The most popular destinations by passenger traffic were the following: Istanbul (SAW, IST), Boryspil (KBP), Antalya, Warsaw and Hurghada.

During 2016 the airport handled 8877 flights: 6746 (76%) of them were international and 2131 (24%) – domestic.

Top-5 destinations by the number of operated flights were the following: Istanbul (SAW, IST), Boryspil (KBP), Warsaw, Antalya and Vienna.

Top-5 airlines by the number of passengers handled were UIA, LOT Polish Airlines, Azur Air Ukraine, Pegasus Airlines and Atlasjet Ukraine. The airlines that operated the largest number of flights were UIA, LOT Polish Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and Pegasus Airlines.

In 2016 the airport in cooperation with three airlines managed to expand route network to/from LWO, launching the following regular flights:

• June 6 – the national airline "Motor Sich" started to operate flights to Kyiv (IEV) with the frequency of 4 times a week;

• June 23 – the airline «SprintAir» launched a new regular flight on the route Radom-Lviv-Radom (Poland) with the frequency of 2 times a week;

• August 17 – the airline «Belavia» started to operate regular flights on the route Minsk-Lviv-Minsk with a frequency of 4 times a week (since November 21 the flights have been operated daily).

On September 16 the national airline "Ukraine International Airlines" launched a new regular flight on the route Vilnius-Lviv-Vilnius. The flight is performed with the frequency of three flights per week. Apart from it, the frequency of regular flights to Istanbul (IST) was increased due to the commencement of regular flights by the airline since April 15.

Increase in passenger traffic by 35,1% in November 2016

During November 2016 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” handled 55,0 thousand passengers that is 35,1% more than during November 2015 (40,7 thousand passengers). The passenger traffic on domestic flights amounted to 12,0 thousand passengers (22%), and on international – 43,0 thousand passengers (78%).

Since the beginning of this year the airport handled 680,5 thousand passengers that is 27,3 % more that during January-November 2015 (534,6 thousand passengers). The number of flights has amounted to 8128 that indicates the increase by 21,6% in comparison with the figure of the previous year (6684).

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" increases passenger traffic by 46,4% in October 2016

During October 2016 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” handled 69,1 thousand passengers that is 46,4% more than during October 2015 (47,2 thousand passengers). The passenger traffic on domestic flights amounted to 14,2 thousand passengers (21%), and on international – 54,9 thousand passengers (79%). 

Since the beginning of this year the airport handled 625,5 thousand passengers that is 26,6% more that during January-October 2015 (493,9 thousand passengers). The number of flights has amounted to 7381, that indicates the increase by 20% in comparison with the figure of the previous year (6149).

31,7% increase in passenger traffic: Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" achievement in September 2016

During September 2016 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” handled 85,2 thousand passengers that is 31,7% more than during September 2015 (64,7 thousand passengers). The passenger traffic on domestic flights amounted to 15,0 thousand passengers (18%), and on international – 70,2 thousand passengers (82%). The airport handled 910 flights: 700 (77%) of them were international and 210 (23%) – domestic. Details:

Since the beginning of this year the airport handled 556,4 thousand passengers that is 24,6% more that during January-September 2015 (446,7 thousand passengers). The number of flights has amounted to 6571, that indicates the increase by 19,1% in comparison with the figure of the previous year.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" increases passenger traffic by 27,1% in August 2016 

During August 2016 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” handled 97,5 thousand passengers that is 27,1% more than during August 2015 (76,7 thousand passengers). The passenger traffic on domestic flights amounted to 17,2 thousand passengers (18%), and on international – 80,3 thousand passengers (82%). The airlines operated 975 flights (728 (75%) international and 247 (25%) domestic).

During January-August 2016 the airport handled 471,2 thousand passengers, that is 23,4% more that during January-August 2015: 369,7 thousand passengers flied to international destinations and 101,5 – to domestic ones. The number of flights amounted to 5661.

New flights from Lviv to Vilnius

Given the air service liberalization between Ukraine and Lithuania, Ukraine International Airlines enhance the selection of travel opportunities to Lithuania from Danylo Halytskyi International Airport «Lviv».

Effective September 16, 2016, the new flights will be operated up to three times per week on modern Boeing 737 and Embraer 190. New non-stop scheduled flights will be operated year-round.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" increases the passenger traffic in July 2016 by 29,5%

Overall, during July 2016 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” handled 91,3 thousand passengers that is 29,5% more than during July 2015 (70,5 thousand passengers). The passenger traffic on domestic flights amounted to 16,1 thousand passangers (18%), and on international – 75,2 thousand passengers (82%). 

During July 2016 the airport handled 926 flights: 716 (77%) of them were international and 210 (23%) – domestic.

BelAvia - Belarusian Airlines expands it's flight geography to Ukraine

As from August 17, “Belavia – Belarusian Airlines” starts the implementation of the regular flight on route Minsk - Lviv - Minsk which will be carried out four times a week.

The flights on the route Minsk - Lviv are expected to be carried out on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with a departure from Minsk at 13.10 and with the return flight from Lviv at 15.20. The flights to Lviv are expected to be carried out with the airplanes “Embraer 175”. The cost of an one-way-ticket is from 60 Euro, a return ticket costs 120 Euro.

From Minsk airport passengers can choose the following destinations: Almaty, Ashgabat, Astana, Baku, Batumi, Kaliningrad, Almaty, Moscow, Tbilisi, Tehran, Tel Aviv, Vilnius.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" sees largest increase in passenger traffic results in the last three years

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” passenger traffic results in the first half of 2016 are the best in the past three years. Overall, during January-June 2016 the airport handled 282,4 thousand passengers, that is 20,2% more than during January-June 2015 (234,9 thousand passengers). The number of flights operated has increased by 19,3%, amounting to 3760.

According to the operating results of June 2016 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” handled 75,7 thousand passengers. This month passenger traffic figure has increased by 31% in comparison with the figure of June 2015 (57,8 thousand passengers). Details:

SprintAir to operate from Lviv to Central Poland 

The Polish regional carrier, SprintAir, is opening a new route from Lviv Airport to Radom, a city located in central Poland around 100 kilometers from the country's capital, Warsaw. With the first flight scheduled to take off on the 23rd of June, SprintAir will add a fourth country into its route network.

SprintAir has been operating four routes (to Berlin, Prague, Gdansk and Wroclaw) from the Airport of Radom, situated in the vicinity of Warsaw, since April, 18th. The new service to Lviv will be added this Thursday.

"We are thrilled and excited to be offering our passangers this new route. Lviv is a beautiful city and an attractive destanation for Polish tourists. But, of course, we are also launching the service with the needs of the Ukrainians in mind. With the new route they will get a convenient and fast way of travelling to the center of Poland. We believe that the advantageous location of Radom Airport, which makes it possible quickly to get to Warsaw, together with attractive ticket prices will make the lviv-Radom flights popular with passengers travelling in both directions", - says Jaroslaw Chlopiecki, SprintAir's Commercial Director.   

The inaugural flight is scheduled fot this Thursday. SprintAir's 33-seater Saab 340 will operate on the Radom-Lviv route on Thursdays and Sundays.

Motor Sich Airlines first flight at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" 

June 6, 2016 at 11.42 at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" was held the opening ceremony of Motor Sich Airlines first flight form Kyiv, performed on the aircraft An-24.

Direct flights from Kyiv to Lviv will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Period of flights - from 06.06. to 28.10.

Flights will be performed on An-140 aircraft.

Motor Sich is a Ukrainian airline based in Zaporizhia,Ukraine. It operates passenger and cargo services, including charter and sheduled flights. Its main base is Zaporizhia International Airport.

Celebration of the Lviv Customs 70th anniversary

Today, on May 31, to mark the 70th anniversary of the Lviv customs, a memorial plaque was opened on the building of the old terminal of the State Enterprise "Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv". The celebration of the anniversary was held under the motto "Glorious past. Worthy today. European future".

In the building of the old terminal, where a customs station was opened in 1946, which later became the Lviv Customs, a grand meeting was held involving the Director General of the airport Tetyana Romanovska, head of the Lviv customs Levko Prokipchuk, employees and veterans of the Lviv Customs, representatives of Lviv Regional State Administration and the guests of the holiday. 

During the opening speech, the head of customs Levko Prokipchuk thanked the veterans, those who stood at the origins of the Lviv customs, laid the foundation of professionalism, reliability and commitment to its customs and traditions. 

Separately, he noted members of ATO customs officers and thanked all the participants of ATO, all volunteers, all of those who in a difficult time for the country made a contribution to its preservation. 

Director General of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" Tetyana Romanovska has also congratulated on the occasion of the abovementioned holiday and expressed her gratitude for mutual cooperation in the field of handling of passengers. 

Thereafter, in the presence of all the participants, the head of customs Levko Prokipchuk together with the head of the Lviv International Airport Tetyana Romanovska have opened a memorial plaque dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Lviv Customs.

According to the operating results of May 2016 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” handled 59,8 thousand passengers: 46,5 thousand passengers (78%) flied to international destinations and 13,3 (22%) - to domestic ones. On May 26-28, 2016 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" was chosen the main location of the III International Forum of the farming development - AGROPORT West Lviv 2016

The opening ceremony was attended by Yaroslav Krasnopolskyi, First Vice Minister of Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Oleg Synyutka, the Head of Lviv Regional State Administration, Kees Klompenhouwer, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine, Yaroslav Hadzalo, President of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences and Tetiana Romanovska, Director General of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv'.

The Forum held 14 different seminars, conferences and discussions for farmers and landowners. Several events of AGROPORT West Lviv 2016 became premiere at one time. Thus, for the first time in the history of the ptoject of the Forum, it took place not only at the airport complex, but at the third (the highest) floor of the terminal "A". 

This year, the contest of chefs under the frame of the "National Chef's Day of Ukrainian cuisine" was the highlight of the Lviv Forum. It was attended by 120 chefs from more than 16 regions of Ukraine, including Donetsk region and Crimea.

In addition, such professional events as master classes with professional equipment and technology in the restaurant industry, production of bakery products, carving, cooking of caramel by the world-famous champion of the world in culinary arts,  Shramko Maria, were held during the competition.

New flights from Lviv to Kyiv and Uzhgorod

On June 6, 2016 Motor Sich Airlines will start regular flights from Lviv to Kyiv and Uzhgorod. Flights will be operated four times a week. Traditional direct flight on the route Kyiv-Uzhgorod will be canceled, instead new flights between Lviv and Uzhgorod will be operated starting June 6. This schedule will keep the direction Kyiv-Uzhgorod route network of the airline and will provide convenient short stays at Lviv International airport.

In addition, new schedule provides flight connections of the airline at Kyiv International Airport (Zhuliany), which will link Lviv with Odessa and Zaporizhya. 

Flights from Kyiv to Lviv will be operated on Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 10.00 and on Saturday at 11.00.

Flights from Lviv to Kyiv will be operated on Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 17.50 and on Sunday at 18.20.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" for the first time will host the International Forum of farming development - AGROPORT West 2016

AGROPORT is one of the biggest events of the agrarian sector in Eastern Europe. This year, the International Forum of farming development AGROPORT-2016 will be held in two cities - Lviv and Kharkiv. The venue have traditionally become terminals, exhibition areas and airport aprons of the two cities.

From the point of view of the organizers it will not only expand the geography of the forum, but also will be an important step towards the mental association of farmers in Ukraine, and will create a single field for professional discussions. 

AGROPORT West Lviv 2016 is supported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and Lviv Regional State Administration. Forum will be held in the framework of the United Nations Organization declared the year of pulses and is already included in the calendar of key events of the FAO.

AGROPORT West Lviv 2016, which will take place in Lviv on May 26-28, is focused on small and medium farmers. Among the key themes - animal husbandry, forestry, cultivation of organic products, the cultivation of fruit, vegetables, horticulture and fisheries. The highlight of the Forum will be II National competition of chefs "Days of Ukrainian cuisine".

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" increases passenger traffic by 7,6% in April 2016 

According to the operating results of  April 2016 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” handled 39,5 thousand passengers: 28,2 thousand passengers (71%) flied to international destinations and 11,3 (29%) - to domestic ones. On May 7, 2016, to celebrate the 760th anniversary of the city of Lviv, the citizen of Lviv and Ukrainian national record-holder Oleg Skavysh "Tyahnyzub", set a world champion record on the territory of the State Enterprise "Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv".

The 16-tonne weight bus was pulled by Oleg Skavysh with his teeth over a distance of 37 meters during 57 seconds. The athlete set a Ukrainian record and a new Guinness record too, announcing it a dedication to Lviv - the best city in the world!

The delegation of the State Enterprise “Danylo Halytskyi international Airport “Lviv”, under the approval of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, together with the representatives of Lviv City Council and Lviv Regional State Administration took part in Europe’s biggest aviation event - Routes Europe, that was held on 23-26 of April 2016 in Kraków. This event was the biggest ever Routes Europe, with a record of more than 1,200 delegates – a 20% increase on last year’s conference. 110 airlines, 350 airports and 45 travel companies, along with the representatives of many other fields of activity of the region gathered together to discuss the development of the aviation industry.

During the visit, the delegation of the State Enterprise “Danylo Halytskyi international Airport “Lviv” held a series of meetings and negotiations with leading airlines worldwide, including, Ryanair, Wizz Air, AirBaltic, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, Air Berlin, Air Malta, EgyptAir, CSA Czech Airlines, Iberia Airlines, Nordic Airway, EasyJet, JOIN! Regional Airlines. The main purpose of the visit was to attract new carriers (both representatives of the low-cost segment as well as traditional full-service airlines) and focus on expanding international route network from the city of Lviv. The delegation also met with the representatives of the Ukraine International Airlines. During the negotiations the sides discussed promising proposals for the further development of bilateral relations, saturate them with new joint projects in various fields of cooperation.

Under the leadership of Routes Europe, the delegates of State Enterprise “Danylo Halytskyi international Airport “Lviv” had a possibility to hold a number of meetings with the representatives of leading European airports, such as Wrocław Nicolaus Copernicus Airport, Port Lotniczy Łódź im. Władysława Reymonta, Warsaw Modlin Airport, Scandinavian Mountains Airport, London Southend Airport, Sundsvall-Timrå Airport, Skelleftea Airport and got acquainted with the peculiarities of the airports’ activities in order to implement accomplishments and achievements in provision of ground handling services, flight safety, passenger handling, technological and human resources optimization etc.

One of the main results of the trip became the fact that the State Enterprise “Danylo Halytskyi international Airport “Lviv” will take on hosting duties for Routes Europe 2017. This agreement was reached at a meeting of State Enterprise “Danylo Halytskyi international Airport “Lviv”, Lviv City Council, Lviv Regional State Administration, Association “Airports of Ukraine” delegates along with the Routes Europe organizers.

According to the operating results of  March 2016 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” handled 35,1 thousand passengers: 24,8 thousand passengers (71%) flied to international destinations and 10,3 (29%) - to domestic ones. According to the operating results of  February 2016 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” handled 34,6 thousand passengers: 25,1 thousand passengers (73%) flied to international destinations and 9,5 (27%) - to domestic ones. The passenger traffic figure in February 2016 increased by 12,0% in comparison with the figure of February 2015 (30,9 thousand passengers). Details:

Today, on February 29, 2016, Oksana Reiter, Deputy Minister for European Integration, announced the Order of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine “On the appointment of the Director General of State Enterprise “Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv”. In December 2015 the Nomination Committee of the Government of Ukraine selected Tetyana Romanovska, who previously held the position of the Head of the Air Terminal at the airport, as Director General of “Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv”.  Ms. Romanovska won the competitive selection for the position of the Director General of State Enterprise “Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv”, conducted in accordance with the government decree № 777 “On the competitive selection of the managers at state enterprises”.

Welcoming the new leader, the Mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovyi presented Ms. Romanovska with the nominal coin of the King Danylo Galytskyi and wished the company to remain one of the best ones in the Air Transport Market in Ukraine, continuously increasing passenger traffic. Apart from that, Oksana Reiter said that the the changes for the better were anticipated in the enterprise, but the main goal – the guarantee of providing aviation services and passenger safety - remained unchanged. On November 4, 2015 a children’s playground was equipped at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv”, with the support of Platinum Bank.

On October 31 - November 1, 2015 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” was thirdly chosen the main location of the famous fashion event in Lviv - Lviv Fashion Week. The event, organized by public organization "Halychyna Fashion Seasons", was held in the transit area of ​​the airport, which became a fashion catwalk for two days.

"ATLASJET UKRAINE" commences to operate flights on the route Lviv-Istanbul-Lviv

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” together with the national airline "ATLASJET UKRAINE" have started to operate regular flights to/from Istanbul since the beginning of 2015/2016 winter navigation period.

The inaugural flight took place on October 26, 2015. The airbus A320 landed with 54 passengers on board and carried 41 passengers back to Istanbul.

The flights to/from Istanbul are operated three times per week: on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On Mondays the departure time from Lviv is at 2:20 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. The departure from Lviv on Wednesdays and Fridays will take place at 2:20 p.m.

Opening of a new duty-free store at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv”

On October 21, 2015 a new duty-free store of network PAVO was opened on the second floor of Terminal "A" at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv”. Visitors can get acquainted with a wide range of products of famous brands and exclusive gifts, find familiar "classics" of the world market and brand-new items in a bright room of 130 m2.

Qualified selling assistants will gladly help in choosing delicious chocolate, high-end alcohol, fragrant perfumes and cosmetics, souvenirs with Ukrainian national symbols, electronics for travelers, etc.

On October 27, 2015 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” arranged an informative excursion for a group of children from Sykhiv district of Lviv. Event attendees were the wards of Lviv center of social services for families, children and youth.

Adopting the experience of leading national and international airports, Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” has integrated into its activities the concept of “silent airport” since September 1, 2015. This initiative involves minimizing the voice announcements to the level sufficient to keep to the technology for providing services. The information is voiced by zonal principle, that is, where the passenger is more likely to be. All the current information concerning flight arrival/departure or delay, gate number, etc., is available, as before, on information boards and monitors located at the Terminal A.

“We have decided to decrease the number of voice announcements, thereby protecting our passengers from the abundance of voice information. We believe that the reduction of noise will guarantee passengers comfortable  stay at the airport”,- said Acting General Director Volodymyr Kostenko.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” approves “Quality Standards for Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” services”

On September 4, 2015 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” approbated “Quality Standards for Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” services” (hereinafter - the Standards). The Standards provide information regarding the requirements for aircraft ground handling and passenger handling at all stages.

The aim of the Standards lies in increasing the customer (passengers, airlines, etc.) satisfaction with the services provided. The Standards are the basis for the cooperation with airlines in signing SLA (Service Level Agreement), that will result in the increase of both airport and airline responsibilities for operating flights from Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv”.

The requirements for the services, described in the Standards, are based on the requirements of the IATA Standard Ground Handling Agreement and Annex 9 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation "Facilitation".

We want to inform you that on the 3rd of March Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” operates in normal mode. Restrictions imposed on the entry of vehicles into the territory adjacent to the airport were removed.

Let us remind you that yesterday at 7:20 a.m. the unknown man called 102 and said that Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” was mined.

In response to the report on bomb threats in the terminal "A", Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” conducted a thorough safety inspection and limited vehicular traffic on the territory adjacent to the terminal.

In result of the inspection of airport’s premises no explosive devices were found.

All the necessary measures were taken by aviation security of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” in close cooperation with law enforcement institutions operating at the enterprise.

In December the passenger traffic of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” increased by 2.5%

As far as the work of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” in December 2014 is concerned, 36.7 thousand passengers were transported (2,5 % more than in November 2014). These include: 28,7 thousand passengers flying to international destinations and 8 thousand - to domestic ones.

During the month 540 flights were operated, including 371 international and 169 domestic.

Summarizing the results of 2014, it is worth noting that the overall passenger traffic of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” in 2014 amounted to 585.2 thousand passengers, 479.6 thousand of which flied to international destinations and 105.6 thousand – to domestic ones.

During 2014 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” operated 7708 takeoff and landing operations, including 5638 on international routes and 2070 inside Ukraine.

Top-5 destinations of the period are Kyiv (Boryspil), Istanbul, Milan, Warsaw and Munich.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport 'Lviv’ summed up the results of November 2014

According to the results of November 2014 35,8 thousand passengers were handled: 27,7 thousand passengers (77%) flied to international destinations and 8.1 thousand passengers - to domestic ones(23%).

The most popular destinations of this period were the following: Kyiv (Boryspil), Istanbul, Hurgada, Milan and Warsaw.

In November 2014 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport 'Lviv’ worked in regular mode, operating the flights according to the schedule and taking all the required measures to guarantee aviation security. Totally during the month the airport handled 530 flights to 15 destinations: 376 (71%) of them were international and 154 (29%)  - within Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the year the passenger traffic at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport 'Lviv’ amounted  to 548.5 thousand passengers, including 97.6 thousand passengers on  domestic flights and 450.9 thousand passengers on international ones.

 

In December a new regular flight Naples- Lviv-Naples will be launched to/from Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” by the low-cost airlines “Wizz Air Ukraine” (on Tuesdays and Saturdays)  and “Meridiana Fly”(on Tuesdays).

In September 2014 a modern conference room was opened inside the Terminal of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv".

On September, 18 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport «Lviv» accepted the «Ice Bucket Challenge» from the International airport «Borispol» and took part in the charity event aimed to help Ukrainian Army.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport «Lviv» opens new flight to Naples launched by "Wizz Air Ukraine"

From December 23, 2014 the route from Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" to Naples will be launched. It will be operated by Airbus A320 aircraft to Naples International Airport twice a week: Tuesdays and Saturdays. The airline “Wizz Air Ukraine” will replace the existing Lviv-Dortmund destination (stops operating from November 1, 2014).

Scheduled flights from Lviv to Naples were operated on the year-round basis in 2012. Taking into account the average load factor on the routes to Italy (90%) and the price of the ticket (from 639 UAH one way, according to the carrier), the new flight is expected to meet high passenger demand. Tickets are already available on the website of air carrier.

In August 2014 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport «Lviv» handled 78.5 thousand passengers (16% less the last year index), among them 68.4 thousand passengers were on international and 10.1 thousand passengers - on domestic routes. Lviv airport operated 845 flights: 663 were to international and 182 were to domestic destinations. Generally from the beginning of 2014 the positive dynamics of absolute index of passenger traffic and flights was observed.

The most popular destinations of August 2014 were Antalya, Istanbul, Kyiv (Boryspil), Tivat and Warsaw.

In August 2014 the luggage storage was opened and the parking area at the landside of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport «Lviv» was launched.

28 August 2014 on the eve of Day of Aviation in Ukraine Danylo Halytskyi International Airport «Lviv» awarded the winners of the photo contest. More than 20 photos (by the spotters from the US, Moldavia and different parts of Ukraine who took part in the spring spotting under the title «Spotting with a cup of coffee») were presented for the contest lasting for about a month at the official Airport Facebook page.

According to the results, the photos by Roman Holub got the most number of «likes» – 29, by Volodymyr Moroz – 24 «likes» and Dorin Plugaru (a spotter from Moldova) – 22 «likes». Chief Executive Officer of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport «Lviv» Vyacheslav Cheglatonyev awarded the winner with airport’s logo souvenirs.

Anatoliy Boichenko became a winner in the nomination from «Turkish Airlines» and received a brand souvenir gift from the air carrier.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport «Lviv» opens a Luggage Storage

On 28 August 2014 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport «Lviv» opens a luggage storage. From August 1, the service has been available in testing mode. Luggage storage is located in the arrival area of the Terminal «A» (in front of the the Information Desk). The new service is aligned with current legislation of Ukraine and international rules of IATA.

The unique feature of the locker at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport «Lviv» is that the baggage left by passengers is sealed and that presupposes the guarantee of its the integrity. Later it passes aviation security control and the passengers are given a token.

100 metres Ukrainian blue and yellow flag painted at the Danylo Halytskyi International Airport  «Lviv» dedicated to the Day of the National Flag and Independence Day of Ukraine

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport «Lviv» engaged young artists to create patriotic painting that depict Ukrainian national symbols on the occasion of the Day of the National Flag and Independence Day of Ukraine. The students from the Lviv National Academy of Arts - Olga Shkurlatyuk (prepared a sketch), Nataliya Reznikova and Nadiya Krivorotova depicted the painting the total are of which is 700 metres at one of the runway headings.

It took about one week and 80 liters of paint to depict the 3D Flag of Ukraine, Trident аnd dove as a symbol of peace.

"Air Urga" pilot, Yuriy Melnychenko noted: «landing the flight at Lviv airport I saw national symbols and was pleasantly amazed. I think it is a good idea since Lviv is well known for its patriotism and hospitality city. Starting from now the beautiful Ukrainian painting will welcome everyone who arrives at the Lviv airport. The opening of parking area at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport 'Lviv’ 

12 August 2014 the parking lot with the area 2 737 square meters for 238 spaces at the landside of the Terminal “A” of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” is opened.

The parking area is equipped with hi-tech Automatic Control System «Automatic Parking» which has no analogues in Western Ukraine. The system includes automatic barriers, light-signals, license plate recognition cameras, etc.

Passengers’ disembarkation/embarkation from the vehicle, transit through the parking area and landside as well as parking up to 15 min are free of charge. The parking fee is 5.00 UAH per hour. The parking fee is applied in accordance with the Resolution # 3191 from 20.03.2014 adopted at the session of Lviv City Council. According to Ukrainian legislation the PRMs can take advantage of free of charge parking (24 parking slots are available).

The parking ticket payment may be made at Parking ATM located at the Terminal “A” or at the paybox at exit of the landside. The parking area of Danylo Halytskyi Airport “Lviv” operates 24 hours a day.

«The parking area allows to fix the traffic, arrange the vehicle location at the landside and provide easy access for public transport station. Moreover parking revenue will significantly improve financial statement of the enterprise», mentioned commercial Director of the Airport, Vyacheslav Cheglatonyev.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport 'Lviv’ summed up the results of July 2014

According to the results of July 2014 77.4 thousand passengers were handled (-14.5% or 13.1 thousand passengers less than the same period last year): 66.8 thousand passengers (86%) were on international destination and 10.6 thousand passengers - on domestic (14%). Comparatively to the previous month results, the index of passenger flow increased by more than 25% (or 15.3 thousand passengers).

In July the positive dynamics of operating results is observed: the record number of passengers (during this year) were departed - 37,9 thousand and the highest number of flights from Lviv were operated – 402.

During July 2014 the new regular flight to/from Danylo Halytskyi International Airport 'Lviv’ to Dnipropetrovsk was launched by 'Dniproavia' and also for the first time ‘Kharkiv Airlines’ started a charter program from Lviv to Sharm-el-Sheikh and Antaliya. As of July 2014 the most popular destinations were: Antaliya, Kyiv (Boryspil), Istanbul, Tivat and Warsaw.

Danylo Halytskyi Airport “Lviv” summed up the results of the first half of 2014

According to January-June 2014 results, 254.6 thousand passengers were handled, that is 12% less than the same period last year: 203.6 thousand passengers on international flights and 51.0 thousand passengers flying within Ukraine. Despite general decrease in passenger traffic, the number of domestic passenger increased by 5% (or 2.4 thousand passengers). During this period 3 653 flights were operated: 2 609 were international and 1 044 within Ukraine.

In June 2014 the airport handled 62.1 thousand passengers (-20% to the same period last year result and +33% to May 2014 index): 52.4 thousand passengers on international flights and 9.7 thousand passengers on domestic. During the month 539 international and 167 domestic flights were operated.

The most popular destinations in June 2014: Kyiv (Boryspil), Antaliya, Istanbul, Warsaw, Milan and Hurghada.

 “Pegasus Airlines” awarded Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” for 100% found baggage 

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” received the award AHL Closure (for 100% found baggage according to the results of 2013) during the annual meeting of “Pegasus Airlines” with representatives of international airports.
“Pegasus Airlines” operates the flights from 70 international airports and has awarded only five airports on each category.

During 2013 «Lost & Found» of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” received 113 passenger requests on baggage tracing on the flights operated by “Pegasus Airlines”. In all the cases the baggage was delivered to the owners.

According to representatives of Pegasus Airlines, this award defines high level of qualification and co-operation of Passenger Handling Service of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” and Pegasus Airlines. 

Danylo Halytskyi Airport 'Lviv' welcomed the first flight from Dnipropetrovsk

4 July 2014 at 9.50 p.m. the first regular flight from Dnipropetrovsk by 'Dniproavia - Ukrainian airways' landed.

The flight was greeted with bread and salt (according to Ukrainian tradition) and water arch salute. The airport administration, representatives of Lviv City and Regional Councils took part in the ceremony.

From now flights between Lviv and Dnipropetrovsk are available to our passengers two times a week on Embraer-145 with two classes of service ('Premium-economy' and 'Economy').

Yesterday, 2 July 2014 the presentation and defense of 2014-2018 strategic plan of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport 'Lviv' took place at the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine. The strategic plan was presented by Commercial Director of the airport Vyacheslav Cheglatonyev and Director for Economic and Financial Affairs of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport 'Lviv' Sergiy Pradid.

The session was held under the chairmanship of the minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Petro Pinkas, the Head of State Aviation Service of Ukraine Denis Antonyuk and other representatived of Ukrainian aviation authority.

According to Commercial Director of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport 'Lviv' Vyacheslav Cheglatonyev, the 2014-2018 strategy of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport 'Lviv' represents the comprehensive plan of aviation and non-aviation activity of the enterprise with priority areas focused on the development and effective use of airport infrastructure, the increase of economic efficiency, the promotion of aviation security and flight operation safety.

The representatives of aviation authority positively approved the strategic plan and priority areas voicing support to finance the completion of construction and to put into service electrical substation, rescue and firefighting service, aviation liberalization for Lviv airport, regulations on aircraft base at the airport.

From 3 July 2014 “Kharkiv Airlines” has lauched the flights from Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” to Antaliya and Sharm el-Sheikh

Today, on 3 July 2014 at 5.15 p.m. the first flight of from Antaliya of “Kharkiv Airlines” has landed. The flights are operated to tour destinations in cooperation with tour operator «Pegas Touristik». “Kharkiv Airlines” are going to run the charter program form/to LWO for the first time.

The flights from LWO to Antaliya are to be operated during summer season once in ten days and the airline is considering the possibility to increase the flight frequency and continuation of navigation period in case of great passenger demand.

From July, 10 the flight program of “Kharkiv Airlines” will be complemented with the destination Lviv - Sharm el-Sheikh – Lviv with the same frequency (once in ten days).

All the flights of “Kharkiv Airlines” are operated using Boeing 737, 189 seats in economy class. During the flight the passengers will be provided with catering, cold and hot drinks. 

Starting from July, 4 the regular flight to Dnipropetrovsk is launched from Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv”

Starting from 4 July 2014 the new regular flight to Dnipropetrovsk is launched from Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv”. The regular flights are to be operated four times a week by airline “Dniproavia – ukrainian airways”.

The flight leaves Lviv Mondays and Saturdays at 3.20 p.m., arrival time to Dnipropetrovsk is 5.00 p.m. The flight departs Danylo Halytskyi International Airport “Lviv” Fridays and Sundays at 11.00 p.m., arrival time to Dnipropetrovsk is 12.40 a.m. The length of the flight is one hour and fifty minutes.

The flights are to be operated by Embraer-145 with two classes of services – “premium economy” and “economy”.
According to the information of the airline, the tickets for the new destination is available on the website of the air carrier. The price for one way ticket ranges from 1490 UAH, round trip – 2850 UAH.

Starting from now the citizens of Western Ukraine have a perfect opportunity to experience comfortable and quickly travel to Dnipropetrovsk that will improve new tourist and business contacts between the regions. Danylo Halytskyi Airport “Lviv” welcomed the first flight from Zhyliany of airline «Air Urga»

Today, on June, 18 at 10.30 Danylo Halytskyi Airport “Lviv” ceremonially welcomed the first flight of Kirovograd airline “Air Urga” on its route Kyiv (Zhyliany)-Lviv. By aviation tradition the airport greeted “Air Urga” with traditional water arch salute. The kids of the entertainment and excursion center “Veselka” ("Rainbow") also welcomed the first passengers and presented them handmade flights.

The conference took place at 11.00 at the modern conference hall of the airport with participation of Rostyslav Veselov (General Director of Danylo Halytskyi Airport “Lviv”), Vyacheslav Cheglatonyev (Commercial Director of Danylo Halytskyi Airport “Lviv”), Oleksandr Halinskyi (Director General of “Air Urga”), Valeriy Bolotnov (Deputy Director General on Development), Ihor Dorofey (Deputy Director General for Ground Handling and Marketing) and Andriy Moskalenko (Director of LCC “City Mayor Administration”).

“The new flight of “Air Urga” is very promising and the airport will foster the airline’s development particularly providing marketing support”, General Director of Danylo Halytskyi Airport “Lviv”, Rostyslav Veselov mentioned during the conference. Commercial Director of Danylo Halytskyi Airport “Lviv”, Vyacheslav Cheglatonyev added: “Due to unstable political and economic conditions in the country the launch of domestic flight is a great event. It will provide the citizens and guests of western Ukraine with affordable flight to Kyiv”

Oleksandr Halinskyi, Director General of “Air Urga”, told that the airline made the system of flexible prices form the benefits package to premium class services on the new route of the airline. After the situation stabilizes the airline is going to launch the flights from LWO to Uzhgorod and Chernivtsi.

Ihor Dorofey (Deputy Director General for Ground Handling and Marketing) noted that the new flight has enormous tourist potential: “Air Urga” and Lviv City Council are planning to sign a number on contracts regarding “city breaks tours”.

Rostyslav Veselov is appointed as General Director of Danylo Halytskyi Airport “Lviv”

According to the Order of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine from 13 June 2014 # 96-0, Rostyslav Veselov is General Director of Danylo Halytskyi Airport “Lviv” on 3 years contract appointment.

Rostyslav Veselov – qualified specialist with 32 years of aeronautical experience, 17 of them are on the executive posts. In 1997 Rostyslav Veselov developed the representative office of the Ukrainina airline “Aerosvit” in the region. Thanks to that the citizens of Lviv and guests had the possibility to fly within Ukraine and abroad. Rostyslav Veselov clearly understands the airport operation on one hand and air carriers from the other.

Note: Rostyslav Veselov was born on 14 September 1962 in Lviv. In 1982 Rostyslav Veselov graduated from Slavic College of National Aviation University as an aircraft maintenance technician. 1994 - graduation from Riga Civil Aviation Engineers Institute (Economic Faculty). 1982 - Rostyslav Veselov started his career as an aircraft maintenance technician of VI category in at Lviv United Squadron. 1994-1997 - Operations Control Service (Lviv Aviation Enterprise). 1997-2000 –Head of the representative office “Aerosvit” in Lviv. 2000-2003 –Director of branch of Universal Flight Sales Agency. 
2004 – 2013 – returned to the post of Head of the representative office “Aerosvit” in Lviv. From 3 April 2013 Rostyslav Veselov has been working at Danylo Halytskyi Airport “Lviv” as a head of Terminal Managing Service.

 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport 'Lviv’ summed up the results of May 2014

During May 2014 46,7 thousand passengers were handled (that is 23% or 14.1 thousand passengers less than the same period last year), among them 38.5 thousand passengers (82% of passenger flow) were on international flights and 8.2 thousand passengers - on domestic (18% of passenger flow). Comparative to the previous month the index of passenger flow increased by more than 30%.

The airport operated 581 flights: 455 were international (78%) and 126 – domestic (22%). As of May 2014 the most popular destinations were: Kyiv (Boryspil), Warsaw, Milan.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport «Lviv» perfectly welcomed gigant Airbus A-330!

4 May 2014 at 12.22 a.m. for the first time the giant of civil aviation Airbus A-330 performed takeoff and landing operation at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport «Lviv». The airline “Wind Rose” operated the flight on the route Antalya – Lviv - Antalya.

Despite the fact that it was the first experience of handling such a large aircraft all the airport services co-worked perfectly. The arrival of Airbus A-330 became a test for reliability of the airport’s runway and Danylo Halytskyi International Airport «Lviv» is ready to accept aircrafts of this type.

Information: The Airbus A330 is a wide-body twin-engine aircraft made by Airbus for long and medium-haul flights. The first flight was operated 2 November 1992 in the version of A330-300. Maximum Takeoff Weight (MTOW) of the aircraft – 233 tones, the number of seats - 330.

New destination from airline «Air Urga»: affordable flights from Lviv to Kyiv (Zhuliany)

18 June 2014 Ukrainian airline «Air Urga» Urga» is planning to launch the route between Danylo Halytskyi International Airport «Lviv» and Kyiv (Zhuliany). The flights from Lviv are to be operated from Monday to Friday at 6:45 p.m. and Sundays at 7.40 p.m.

On the route Lviv-Kyiv (Zhyliany)-Lviv the airline will use Saab 340. The aircraft features two classes of services - premium and economy providing catering and other additional services.

According to the information of «Air Urga», one way ticket price starts from 51 USD and round-trip ticket - from 88 USD.
The tickets are available on the web-site and airline ticket offices.

According to the results of April 2014, the airport handled 35.6 thousand passengers, among them 26.9 thousand passengers – on international flights and 8.7 thousand passengers – on domestic. In comparison to the result of the same period last year the passenger flow decreased by -19%. 577 flights were operated from/to LWO: 382 were international and 195 – domestic.

Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Maksym Burbak has arrived to Lviv with an official visit

Last night in the Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" was met Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Maksym Burbak, who arrived in the city on an official visit.

During the visit Minister will meet with head of city and head of Lviv region and with managers of enterprises that belong to the Ministry of Infrastructure in Lviv region.

«Wizz Air Ukraine» defers  opening of  the base in Lviv and operation of six new routes

«Wizz Air Ukraine» today announces further adjustments to its network and capacity, in response to the continued low travel demand on Ukraine routes and weaker currency. The planned opening of the Lviv base on 30 April has now been deferred until the market normalises.

As a consequence the 6 new routes scheduled to start operating from Lviv to Barcelona Girona, Naples, Kutaisi, Tel Aviv, Rome Fiumicino and Valencia have been temporarily suspended. Existing Lviv services to Dortmund, Milan and Venice Treviso will continue to operate. The two Kiev services to Sofia and Vilnius and the Kharkov service to Kutaisi have also been temporarily suspended.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" took part in the aviation route development forum «Routes Europe 2014»

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" for the third time was represented at the main European aviation forum «Routes Europe 2014» taken in Marseille (France), 6-8 April 2014. This year about 1 200 aviation and tourist professionals from 70 countries, 115 airlines, 380 airports, 50 tourist authorities took part in the forum.

During the Forum the representatives of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" had meetings with airlines, airports – potential partners for routes development and tourism business representatives; reached trilateral agreements on further cooperation. The negotiations with airlines were aimed at new routes opening from Lviv and flights scheduling that would allow to increase transit passenger traffic via LWO, particularly on European and transatlantic destinations.

The representatives of Lviv airport had the opportunity to present Airport and learn from the experience of airports-leaders during the briefings within the framework of Forum.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" got a new basic carrier - airline “Atlasjet Ukraine”

On April 4, at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" there was presentation of the new airline “Atlasjet Ukraine", which is an affiliated representative of «Atlasjet Airlines» (Turkey) in Ukraine. The airline will base its fleet at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" and is planning to start flights from Lviv since May this year.

The CEO of “Atlasjet Ukraine” Sergiy Pidgorodetsky said that the airline received a certificate of the operator with the right to do commercial passenger and cargo transportations and will submit an application to the Ministry of Infrastructure to get the directions.

Currently, the airline fleet consists of three aircraft types Airbus320, two of which are based at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv". Strategic airline’s policy is to provide a complete package of valuable services for airline passengers – free of charge food, 20 kg baggage allowance, free online check-in and seat selection. There are business and economy classes provided in the aircrafts.

President of «Atlasjet Airlines» (Turkey) Ali Murat Ersoy said that in the nearest future company is planning to increase fleet of «Atlasjet Ukraine» up to 10 aircrafts in 2015 and open an AFA (Atlantic Flight Academy) to prepare the high-qualified aviation specialists for «Atlasjet Ukraine» team by themselves.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" sums up first quarter results 2014

According to the first quarter results 2014 the passenger flow at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" increased by 2% in comparison to the results of the last year and totaled 110.2 thousand passengers. The airport handled 85.8 passengers on international and 24.4 thousand passengers on domestic flights. The number of take-off and landing operations is 1 789, 1 233 are international and 556 are domestic.

In March 2014 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" equaled 35.2 thousand passengers (76% of them are on international flights and 24% - on domestic). Comparing to the results of the last year, the index declined by 5%. During this month the Airport handled 589 flights: 400 are international and 189 are domestic.

The most popular destinations of the first quarter 2014 are: Istanbul, Milan, Moscow, Warsaw and Kyiv.

During the spring-summer navigation season 30 new destinations to 17 countries of the world will be operated from Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv"

At midnight on 29 March Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" shifts to spring-summer schedule. The destination network will list 31 destinations. Particularly, the direct flights will be operated to Spain (Valence, Girona), Israel (Tel-Aviv), Georgia (Kutaisi), Italy (Rome, Naples), Tunis (Enfidha) and the flights to the north of Russia (Surgut) will be renewed. Two more airlines - "Ellinair" and "Atlasjet Ukraine" will join 14 airlines that have been operating from Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" during the autumn-winter navigation season. Airline "Ellinair" is a partner of the travel operator "Mouzenidis Travel" will fly to the resorts of Greece - Thessaloniki and Kerkida. "Atlasjet Ukraine" will operate international flights to the European countries and domestic flights (the destinations are under consideration).

"Wizz Air Ukraine" opens its base in Lviv airport and in the end of April and operates the flights to Rome, Naples, Valence, Girona, Tel-Aviv and Kutaisi. "LOT Polish Airlines" will increase flight frequency to Warsaw.

The flights to summer destinatinations will be of interest for the passengers: Heraklion and Rodos (Greece), Dalaman and Antaliya (Turkey), Hurghada (Egypt), Tivat (Montenegro), Split (Croatia), Burgas (Bulgaria) and a new destination - Enfidha(Тunis).

"Ode to Joy" in seven largest Ukrainian airports at a time

March 30, at 1 p.m. at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" at a time with six Ukrainian airports the local orchestras will play “Ode to Joy”. On March, 30 in six Ukrainian airports the event “Ode to Joy” will take place. It will unite symphony orchestras from Lviv, Kyiv, Donetsks, Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv. At 1p.m. at the airports of these cities the orchestras will play “Ode to Joy”, composed by Ludwig van Beethoven.

The aim is to commemorate people died in Kyiv, to support unity and integrity of Ukraine, to celebrate the occasion of signing the Ukraine–European Union Association Agreement.

“Ode to Joy” is official anthem of the EU; it highlights the unity of people, calls to reconciliation, supremacy of law. The event will be available to all those who wish to come: the only thing is to come to the airport at a necessary time.

Flight Frequency Change to/from Moscow

From 12.03.2014 the «UTair airlines» changes the flights frequency to/from Moscow (Vnukovo). The flights are cancelled on Mondays, Saturdays and Fridays. On other days the fights are operated to/from Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" according to the schedule: http://lwo.aero/en.

In February, 2014 the index on domestic destinations increased by 21%

According to the results of February, 2014 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" handled 34.6 thousand passengers. (+3% to the last year index): 27.1 thousand passengers on international flights and 7.5 thousand passengers on domestic flights.

Aircraft movements during the month totaled 555: 379 are international and 176 are domestic flights.

In February, 2014 the increase on domestic destinations is noticed: the index of take-off and landing operations increased by 14% and the passenger flow - by 21%.

More than 150 employees of the Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" underwent training last year

During 2013, 153 employees of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" took professional trainings. Such as: 47 technical support staff, 35 ground operation staff, 30 aviation security staff, 16 passenger handling staff, 4 aviation accident prevention service, 4 medicine service staff.

In particular, the passenger handling staff passed Ukrainian and international courses below:
- aviation security for passenger service;
- dangerous goods regulations;
- verification documents (visa, permissions etc.);
- anti-crisis management program;
- service provision to the passenger with disabilities;
- particularities of check-in service system for the international flight.

This year 148 employees are planned to be enrolled for the courses and advanced professional trainings.

Amendments to the Law on Sufficient Financial Support Confirmation for Foreigners and Stateless Persons Entering Ukraine

The rules for foreigners entering Ukraine are changed in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated from December 21, 2013 #884 “On the adoption of the procedure of the sufficient financial support confirmation for foreigners and stateless persons entering, staying, transit through, traveling outside Ukraine and determination of such amount of financial support”.

From February, 6 there is a temporary prohibition of any content (containers) of liquids on flights to the airports of the Russian Federation

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" informs that starting from 06.02.2014 in hand luggage on the flights operating to the airports in Russian Federation there is a temporary prohibition of any content (containers) with liquids, aerosols, creams, gels, pastas, excluding medicine, special diabetic substances, baby food, and breast milk as needed during the flight on condition that the substances will be identified during security control and comply to laws and regulations of aviation security control.

The exceptions are the containers with liquids, gels, aerosols, creams, pastas bought in shops located in the airside; the substances must be firmly sealed in a transparent plastic bag and their content must be identified by a reliable proof of the purchase made on the day of the trip.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv": the results of January 2014

According to results of the first month of 2014 the passenger traffic of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" welcomed + 7% more passengers compared with the same period last year. During January LWO handled 43.1 thousand passengers: 33.9 thousand passengers (or 79% of total passenger flow) on international flights and 9.2 thousand passengers (or 21% of total passenger flow) on domestic flights. The international air passenger index rose by 7% and domestic – by 11% in comparison to the same period last year.

645 takeoff and landing operations to/from LWO were performed: 454 international (70%) and 191 (30%) domestic flights.

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" handled a record number of passengers and flights during New Year and Christmas holidays

During the period from 25 December 2013 to 12 January 2014 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" handled 29,1 thousand passengers, +21% (or 5 thousand passengers) in comparison with the same period last year. During the winter holidays 413 flights from/to LWO were operated; the most popular destination of this period was Kyiv; among international flights - was Istanbul (Turkey) and Hurghada (Egypt).

On 3 January 2014 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" handled a record number of passengers and flights: 2,1 thousand passengers (+63% to the same period last year) and 30 flights (+25%). 

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" announces the results of 2013

During 2013 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv” handled 700.8 thousand passengers, the passenger flow increased by 22% (or +124.7 thousand passengers) in comparison to the results of 2012 (576.1 thousand passengers). The number of passengers on international flights were 576.5 thousand passengers (82% of total passenger flow), + 29% (or +129.3 thousand passengers) to the result of the last year, on domestic flights the index of passenger flow decreased to 124.3 thousand passengers (18% of total passenger flow), -4%. Over the year the Airport handled 9 551 flights: 6 788 (71%) are international and 2 763 (29%) are within Ukraine.

In December 2013 the passenger flow at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv” equated 43.4 thousand passengers (+7% to the result of 2012): 34.1 thousand passengers (79%) are on international and 9.3 thousand passengers (21%) on domestic flights. 683 takeoff and landing operations were performed (474 are international and 209 are domestic).

The main achievements of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv” in 2013:
- the increase of passenger flow by 22% in comparison to 2012;
- the agreement on the opening of the third base in Ukraine with “Wizz Air Airline” is reached. The launch of flights to Rome, Naples, Girona (Barcelona), Valencia, Kutaisi and Tel Aviv are announced;
- the award “Best CIS Airport” according to estimates of Adam Smith Institute experts on the annual forum “Airport Development Russia and CIS 2013”;
- the new regular flight Ashkhabad-Lviv of “Turkmenistan Airlines” was launched;
- the launch of the new charter destinations on regular basis to Rodos, Larnaca;
- opening of renovated “Duty Free” (total area is about 900 square meters), baggage wrapping service, new food court in the International Departure Lounge, etc.
- holding the first Aerocongress in Ukraine, where the modern aviation technology was presented and a conference dedicated to innovations and latest trends in airbusiness was organized;
- certifiсation on “Aviation Security Course”, “Certification for Carriage of Dangerous Goods” (categories 8, 9);
- a range of special trainings and courses in Ukraine and abroad for the Airport staff: check-in service (Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines та Turkish Airlines), services provision to the passengers with disabilities, etc.

Wizz Air Ukraine opens base in Lviv and offers new routes to the citizens of Lviv

On September 16, 2013 Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" together with the first Ukrainian low-cost airline company "Wizz Air Ukraine" announced about the opening of the third Ukrainian base of the Carrier in Lviv, which is planned to be on April 30, 2013.

After the base opening, "Wizz Air Ukraine" is going to base in Lviv one plane Airbus A320. New plane is going to serve 8 routes, therefore number of passenger seats will reach 300 thousand in 2014. Besides flights that airline company currently performs from Lviv to Venice Treviso, Dortmund and Milan Bergamo, Wizz Air Ukraine announced about the opening of five new routes: to Naples, Rome (Italy), Valencia, Barcelona Girona (Spain) and Kutaisi.        

Such enhancing cooperation of the Airport and the Carrier is going to give an opportunity to Ukrainian passengers to travel at low prices, significantly support the development of tourism in the region and create new working places. Therefore airline company investment amount to the region is going to make up a sum of 80 million US dollars.

The opening of the renovated shop "Duty Free Baltona"

The official opening of the renovated shop of free trade "Duty Free Baltona" (LLC "Flemingo Duty Free Ukraine") took place on September 12, 2013 at the new terminal of Danylo Halytskyi International airport "Lviv". This exclusive shop - "Duty Free Baltona" is a walk-through room with an area of 500 square meters, which can serve around 600 000 passengers per year. LLC "Flemingo Duty Free Ukraine" in the shop "Duty Free Baltona" provides an opportunity to the passengers of Lviv airport to make purchases of world-class goods in free trade mode. New shop of free trade "Duty Free Baltona" is exclusive and includes a wide range of goods of different categories, ranging from imported and domestic liquor to the wide variety of cosmetics, perfumes, accessories, clocks, jewelries and tobacco.

During the committee meeting, which was held in August, 28, 2013 in the building of Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" the winner was selected - Bernovska Olha Vasylivna.
